Hi guys
Well I've been doing modern jive for nearly three months now and enjoyed every minute of it. I still feel nervous when we move from the beginners lesson to freestyle. I Find it hard to think of what move to do next.
Everyone at the lessons are so helpful and they are always encouraging me to keep going regardless of making mistakes. At the moment I feel frustrated due to how assertive I should be when I lead. From my point of view, I don't wish to hurt anyone so tend to lead as gently as possible. This has lead to problems when the women try to lead. As this is man lead dance it does tend to feel like your wrestling than dancing.
As there is a freestyle night on a week on Friday I've signed up to one of the one-on-one classes held on this sunday. I feel if I can get more coaching on Sunday, lesson on Thursday and then do the freestyle night I will hopefully see I major improvement. Fingers crossed.
I going to list all the moves and how there taught:
LEFT HANDED MOVES
basic
basic push-spin
left handed comb
Shoulder slide
Step across
man-spin
Side to side
Side to side (let go)
TWO HANDED
Armjive
Armjive push-spin
Basket
Octopus
Wurlitzer
RIGHT HANDED
Yo-yo
Hatchback
Comb
Sway
Lady spin
Catapult
Half windmill
It's four of the above beginners moves a week, then the following week you do one move from the previous week and three other ones.
I'm am hoping to put some videos on me on the site eerrr .......soon.
Keep dancing
Michael
